SHE’S GOING!!!
OLIVE’S FIFTY FIRST POST
…………………..
Mike
I called on our famous bloggee this morning.
I say, bloggee rather than blogger since Ollie is more in a reactive situation these days than an active one.
In line with that I said, “Ollie, the Powerhouse Museum would like to try again for Wed. the 19th.
It will be our last chance before Xmas. How about it?”
Olive
Oh, I don’t know Mike, I really don’t.
Mike
I’m not going to pressure you, Ollie. (not half, I’m not)
But I know you really well, and often when you say you don’t want to go out, once you are out, you have a great time.
I’m sure this is going to the be same. Eric’s coming and Katya too.
Olive
How long will we be gone?
Mike
We’ll pick you up before nine and have you back just after lunch
Olive
Well, that will be alright, then
Mike
Sure? Your won’t cancel on me, now?
Olive
Oh, I won’t cancel on you. I promise you that!
For those living in Australia, don’t forget Olive’s one hour movie, will rebroadcast today, Tuesday .
All About Olive, the story of her trip back to Broken Hill ,will be on the ABC at 12.30 pm (just at lunch time) Tues 18th Dec.

Mike, I’m counting down the minutes to Ollie’s movie on the TV as I type this! I hope you make it to the Powerhouse at Castle Hill, will they let you film any of the things Ollie sees? Or at least some still photos? Wishing all of you who “help” Olive with her “blob” and keep her spirits up a Very Merry Christmas and all the best for 2008 to all of you. A BIG Christmas hugs and kisses to Ollie herself.

Hello Ollie (via Mike),
Well I’ve just watched your show ‘All About Ollie’ and I haven’t cried like that for a long time. You are such a beautiful person inside and out. Merry Christmas xxxooo

Mike, of course I’d seen excerpts on Ollie’s blog but seeing the whole movie, in context, was just great. I rang my Mum, 79, and asked her to watch it too. She rang me the minute it finished and said, “what a wonderful old lady!” It was touching to see the headstone on Emma’s grave at the end too. They do say time heals all wounds dont’ they so is there any hope Bonnie may come around before it’s too late? (Don’t read out that bit if you think it’ll upset Ollie too much! It’s the last thing I’d do you know.) What a wonderful group of friends Ollie has in you, Katya and the residents and staff at the nursing home. The movie was a credit to you all, and Ollie certainly shone as the star (and the Director too at times I noticed, LOL.)
Hooroo,
Christine

Hi Ollie
I also just watched “All about Ollie” and it was one of the best things I could have done the week before Christmas! You are an amazing person and I would love to meet you and give you a hug. Merry Christmas and God Bless you and the people who made the film.
Marie (South Australia)
Marie, so glad you liked our movie. Ollie will be thrilled. I’m suggesting to others who’ve
made similar comments, that you phone the ABC switch and tell them you liked it. That helps us film independent film makers and is good for ABC morale as well. Mike the helper and th director, sorry co director.

Good afternoon Mike - Just now we two, together with my own care/helper have watched the re-play on TV of’ ‘All About Olive’ with great interest and pleasure and admiration. You have done a wonderful thing in making this moving and vivid story of Olive’s life - I do hope many many people old and young were watching it. I had let several people know about it, and can let you know if I get any ‘feed-back’ from them.
And dear Olive, you moved us to laughter and tears; and - respectfulness at your courage and determination to care for your family in hard circumstances; we can’t begin to understand how it really was for you, but we thank you for your willingness to share this depiction of your life with us all. We smiled and wept with you as we watched.
I know you are loved and honoured by all who know you. Truly, you teach us so much that is good .
My own Mum, at the end of her 90 plus years, was in care, living near to us. When I’d have to go I’d often say these words of the old old blessing, which I now say with you dear Olive……..”The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.”
Nan.

Wish I could see the movie, but I live in Japan!
Olive, I’m rooting for you! Hope you have a beautiful time at the museum, and you feel really well for it.
Well, lets hope we do make it to museum, Abigail. What a build up, eh? As for olive’s movie, you can get a copy. There is an Icon on the side which gets you to the company which sells it. Let me know how you get on. If it doesn’t work. I have a few at home. Mike the helper

Hello Olive!! Hello Mike!!
Thank-you for a lovely albeit teary day with you in my mind all afternoon Olive!!
Your film was just great - I came upon it by chance today as I sat down for lunch (with my little ones home for the holidays, we get to do that now!)… Olive, my dear old Gran passed away this past June - she was only 92! Just a pup! And you reminded me of her so soooo much that I was chuckling through my tears! Should I laugh, or should I cry? At the end of your film I just couldn’t help it - I haven’t had a good sob for months! I must have needed it! I just miss my Gran I guess…
You’re a firey fiesty darling aren’t you? And so many people love you for it! And now I do too!
I’ll be keeping track of you and your ‘blob’ now, is that okay by you?
Wish I could send you a Christmas card!
Love from Glynis in North Queensland
Glynis, such a heart felt letter. It make me feel very good to have made a film, with Ollie, which did so much for you, bringing your Gran back to you for an hour. How lucky you happened to catch it. Eric’ll read Olive your comments tomorrow when we’re driving to the Powerhouse..
There’s lots for you to look and read on the blog to date. It’s been quite a journey. Let us know what appeals to you.
You’ll probably find more and more which brings your Gran to mind. Was she in north Queensland too?
if you have a chance, ring your local ABC and tell them you liked the film. It does help we independents to get some feedback to the broadcaster. Any local ABC will pass your comments on. Mike the helper

Dear Olive and Mike ~ ~ The movie was wonderful to see it all together instead of bits here and there. I had quite a few Americans and one from U.K.wishing
they could see it too. My blogger friends all see in the papers and on TV articles about Olive.. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a happy healthy New Year in 2008. Olive, I hope you have a lovely time at the Museum with your dear friends.
It is an effort sometimes to go out, but, once out, you usually enjoy yourself. Take care, Love and Hugs
Merle.
Merle the can access the film by going to the website under the little Icon for th film on the blog. That takes them to Ronin films, the distributors.

I only wish they were showing it here in the US. I don’t know if it’s something I can view from my computer or not. Well see what I can find out. Way to go Ollie, good luck with everything.

Thank-you so much Mike - seeing your reply has just made my day! Give Ollie a big hug - she’s in for a big day today!! Hope she feels okay tonight and can get a few extra ‘nods’ of rest after all of the excitment. Can’t wait to read all about it tonight or whenever you get a chance to post.
Yes, my Gran was a Far Northerner all her life! It has facinated all of us (grandchildren) at the thought of how much these great old ladies have seen in their lives! Motor vehicles, electricity, telephones, television - let alone the likes of ‘Blobbing!’ on the ‘net!! Amazing!! and very precious!!
Thanks again,
Glynis
P.S. I will definately contact the ABC!

Oh I wish I could have gotten to see Ollie’s movie! I love her blob so much, I usually end my week by reading it.
I hope that you do get to make your trip to the museum and that Ollie is up to it. Don’t wear her out too much Mike (and Katya and Eric!)
I’m looking forward to Ollie’s blob about the trip.
Happy Holidays Ollie, Mike, Katya and to Eric too!
