OLIVE MAKES SOME ELECTRICITY

OLIVE’S FIFTY NINTH POST

Olive

Mike has just shown me a strange thing

Mike

Yeah, I asked you to guess what it was.

Olive

And I couldn’t

Mike

It has to do with our Wind farm story.

Olive

The one that’s being built at Silverton

Mike

That’s right. With hundreds of towers.

Now, last time you said you didn’t completely understand how a wind farm works.

And so I wracked my brains to find something which would help explain the principle, and I came up with this thing

Olive

Did you? Well, you’ve still got me beat.

Mike

Let’s try a movie clip. It will be easier if I show you that way

Olive

As you wish.

Mike

Katya can shoot my explanation

…………………..

Mike

After that we talked about other important things.

Indeed, you gave us a clue as to why you think you’ve lived to 108, Ollie.

That came after we’d found out about your exercise program and your punching abilities

……………………….

Mike

The last thing is the news that Eric has been promoted.

He’s now a featured writer on the internet paper he writes for, OhmyNews, International

Not bad of our 88 year old journalist, eh?

Olive

That’s wonderful!

Mike

Did you see this marvellous clip, everyone? . Don’t be put off by the Zombi look.

This is brilliant and so relevant to our interest.

Perfect advice for the rest of us Olive; stand up for yourself! I love those flashlights, I have yet to get one for myself, but they fascinate me.

I would love to see you attend the opening of the wind farm, if you can get to it, that is.

    You make me smile, Olive!

    Hello Olive and Mike,
I think wind farms are a fabulous idea and I’d love to see many more of them popping up.

Being born and raised on the prairie in Canada I keep hoping that wind farms will become a big thing here. Especially since it is more often than not windy, very windy.

The idea of explaining wind farm is nice and i want that flashlight or torch too. I hope Olive will enjoy and be amazed when she sees the real wind farm. I want to see her reaction.

I am really happy watching the video…thanks.

    Hi Olive
I just saw your item on the wind farm !!
It is so recognisable, because in Holland we do have a lot of windmills, the old ancient types and the new ones like in autralia !!
I will try to post some from my neighbourhood !!

Hello Olive, how are you? My husband has one of those torches! I bought it for Christmas for him and it comes in really handy! I believe you can also buy wind up radios now as well!…saves you having to buy batteries, and I dont think it takes too much ‘elbow grease’ to wind up!
I love those wind farms! I know that a lot of people dont like them but they fascinate me! Theres something really relaxing about those massive ’sails’ moving round! There are some off shore where we go on our holidays and I could sit for hours watching them!
Keep up the excercises Ollie! xxxxxx

Hi Mike and Olive. It’s been a while since I have gotten to visit you. Olive looks beautiful as always and Mike, you are a handsome chap and that pie looks delicious. Shame on you for teasing us like that.:-).I am sorry your wife is sick and wish her a speedy recovery. Take care. I will check back soon.
    Pat

Hi Pat, so glad you’ve come back for a look to see how we’re going. The photo of me is not recent, sadly. But all of us and now in good health. Ollie has bounced back, as has Katya. Did I tease you with pie? Mostly I was teasing myself since I’ve now sworn off them. Mike the helper

What a way to learn about electricity. Have one of those torches myself and yet never really knew how they worked. Thanks for the lesson Mike and Ollie, I think you make an outstanding visual instructor with just the right amount of humour and punch-strength for the job! :-)

Wishing all of you well and thanks for the reminder that clean energy is our most important task for the future.

    Spaz

Susanne, hopefully, we’ll be talking more about energy and the wind farm in the future. Mike the helper
